Posted by Ecuadorian GlobeGround subsidiary uses ELWIS on September 26, 2003 at 06:36:03:

Since mid-September, EMSA Airport GlobeGround Ecuador has been implementing ELWIS – Europe's leading standard IT solution for handling cargo which was developed by Lufthansa Systems – for all its freight handling processes. In addition to achieving higher throughput rates, ELWIS will help to reduce costs. The new customer in South America underlines the success of the system outside the European market.
The introduction of ELWIS marks the final stage in the modernisation of EMSA's IT cargo handling systems. EMSA is now achieving its aim of further improving its customer service and integrating the various handling stations in Ecuador into a unified communications network. ELWIS covers the entire cargo handling chain – from the physical handling of consignments in the warehouse through to invoicing of freight services. This speeds up the handling process and guarantees seamless communication between all the links in the transport chain (airlines, customs, freight customers).
ELWIS will prevent unnecessary overlapping, which also wastes time, and enable EMSA to invest the time thus gained in expanding its cargo business.

The ELWIS system is already in use at Stockholm's Skavsta airport, Billund (Denmark), Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Cologne, Frankfurt-Hahn, Luxembourg, Warsaw and Bucharest. EMSA GlobeGround Equador is the second new customer after Stockholm Skavsta to opt for ELWIS within the past two months. This shows clearly that Lufthansa Systems is ideally positioned to meet current market demands.
EMSA GlobeGround Ecuador is a subsidiary of the worldwide GlobeGround network. As one of the leading international cargo handling companies, EMSA GlobeGround Ecuador currently handles freight in Quito (UIO), Guayaquil (GYE) and Manta (MEC).
